The small wheel. Every cable machine has a few of them - the idler that guides the cable up the stack column, the floating pulley behind the carriage, the corner pulley tucked inside a compact home gym or functional trainer where a 100mm wheel won't fit. When one of these seizes or splits, the cable drags, squeals and starts to fray. This 60mm nylon idler pulley is the straight replacement: a moulded nylon wheel with sealed ball bearings in the hub, a 9mm bore that runs on an M8 axle bolt and a 10mm groove that takes up to 8mm cable.

Unbolt the old wheel, bolt this one in on the same axle bolt and spacers, and the cable runs free again.

Will it fit?

Four things to check against the old wheel: the diameter (60mm - the small idler and guide pulley size; a 50mm or 75mm wheel needs a different part), the bore (9mm, running on an M8 bolt), the width (25mm - it has to sit inside the bracket with the existing spacers) and the cable (the 10mm groove takes up to 8mm; most gym cable is 5-6mm). If your machine uses a different size, contact us with the model code from the frame label and a photo of the old pulley and we'll source the right one.

FAQs

Where are 60mm pulleys used?
Anywhere the cable needs guiding rather than turning a full corner under load: the idlers running up the weight stack column, the floating pulley on a carriage, the small guide wheels inside a compact home gym or functional trainer, and the corner pulleys on DIY cable rigs.

How do I replace it?
Take the load off the cable first (stack pin out, weight resting). Undo the nut on the axle bolt, slide the bolt and spacers out, swap the wheel in with the cable seated in the groove, then refit the spacers, bolt and nut and nip it up so the wheel spins freely without side play. Run the station through its full travel by hand before loading it.

Do I need a new axle bolt?
Usually not - re-use the M8 bolt, nut and spacers from the old pulley. Replace the bolt if it's bent or the thread is damaged.

My cable is fraying near a small pulley - is it the wheel?
Often, yes. A seized or cracked idler drags the cable across a fixed edge instead of rolling with it, and the coating goes first. Replace the wheel, and if the cable's coating is split or wires are showing, replace it at the same time with our 6mm PU-coated gym cable.

Do you stock other sizes?
60mm, 103mm aluminium and 150mm nylon are the sizes we keep on the shelf. For 50mm, 75mm, 90mm or 115mm, or a full machine's worth, contact us and we'll quote from the supplier's parts list.
