Stand-up and takedown tackle bags for rugby league and rugby union clubs, schools and coaches. Players drive into the bag and take it to ground, so they can practise tackle entry, body position and leg drive without a live ball carrier.

We stock Morgan Sports' Platinum range, which is used by many league clubs across Australia. Each bag has a one-piece Australian-made open cell foam core inside a ripstop vinyl cover, nylon webbed handles on each side for carrying, rear strap handles so a coach can hold it upright like a bump shield, and a reinforced double-layer drag flap that protects the base when the bag is pulled between drills.

How to Choose a Tackle Bag

• Size by age group: the 3ft mini bag (about 95 x 35cm) suits Mini and Junior football, the 4ft mod bag (about 120 x 35cm) suits older juniors who have outgrown the mini, and the 5ft senior bag (about 150 x 40cm) is for senior and first-grade training.
• Firmness: Morgan matches the foam to the size. The 3ft bag uses low-to-medium density foam, the 4ft medium density and the 5ft medium-to-high density, so younger players get a softer hit and seniors get a firmer one.
• Bags or shields: tackle bags are for completing a tackle to ground. Hit shields are held by a coach or player for contact, bump and leg-drive drills. Most clubs use both.
• Numbers: plan your bag count around your drill stations, so players spend more of the session tackling and less time waiting in line.

Mini and Junior teams usually start on the 3ft bag, older juniors move up to the 4ft, and seniors use the 5ft. If you coach several age groups, a mix of sizes lets each group train at the right height.
