MMA GROIN GUARDS

MMA Groin Guards & Cups

Steel and Polymer Cup Guards, Compression Shorts with a Cup and a Female Pelvic Guard

A groin guard is essential for any MMA training with kicks, knees or sparring. For MMA it also needs to stay put while you wrestle and scramble, so low-profile guards that sit under your shorts, and compression shorts that hold a cup in place, are popular choices.

We stock groin guards from Morgan Sports and Sting, including steel and polymer cup guards, a slimline competition guard, Dragon compression shorts with a removable cup, and a pelvic protector designed for women.

How to Choose a Groin Guard

• Cup: steel gives the most resistance to hard, direct knees and kicks. Polymer cups are lighter and more comfortable for long sessions, and flexible cups suit grappling.
• Style: external guards with a waistband can be worn over or under your shorts. Compression shorts with a cup pocket hold the cup close to the body, which suits MMA, BJJ and wrestling.
• Coverage: some guards extend up over the lower abdomen for extra protection from low kicks and body shots.
• Size: measure around your waist where the band will sit and check the size guide on the product page.

Frequently Asked Questions

Steel or plastic cup?
Steel resists hard strikes better, which is why it's favoured where knees and kicks to the groin happen. A polymer cup is lighter and more comfortable over a long session.

Which groin guard suits grappling?
A low-profile option that stays in place, such as the Dragon Compression Shorts with Tri-Flex Groin Cup or the slimline Sting Competition Light, sits under fight shorts without shifting.

Do I wear it over or under my shorts?
Guards with a wide waistband, like the Morgan Endurance and Elite, can be worn either way. Cups and compression shorts go underneath.

Is there a groin guard for women?
Yes. The Morgan Ladies Ovary Protector is shaped for the female body. Check your event's rules if you're competing.
