Mouthguards, Mouthguard Cases and Padded Contact Training Suits for Players and Clubs

Protective gear for rugby league players, teams and coaches. The range is mostly mouthguards, in boil-and-bite, gel-fit and instant-fit styles with junior and senior sizes, plus a slim mouthguard case and a padded contact suit for tackling drills.

Gear is from Morgan Sports and Fitness Hero. Clubs and schools often keep low-cost guards such as the Basic Fit on hand as spares.

How to Choose a League Mouthguard

• Fit type: boil-and-bite guards are heated in hot water and bitten into for a moulded fit; some, like the DTX, can be re-moulded if the first fit isn't right. Instant-fit guards such as the EasyFit need no boiling.
• Single or dual arch: most guards cover the upper teeth. Dual-arch guards such as the Morgan Dual and Brain-Pad 3XS cover upper and lower teeth in one piece.
• Size: choose junior or senior to match the player. A guard should sit firmly without needing to bite down to hold it.
• Breathing: breathing channels let air through while the guard is in, which matters through long sets.
• Closest fit: a dentist-fitted guard gives the most precise fit. Boil-and-bite guards are a practical, affordable option for training and spares.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do league players need a mouthguard?
A mouthguard is strongly recommended for any contact sport, and many clubs and competitions require one for training and games. Check your club's rules.

How do I fit a boil-and-bite guard?
Heat it in hot water as the pack directs, let it cool slightly, then bite into it so it moulds to your teeth. Follow the instructions for each guard, as times and temperatures differ.

How should I look after a mouthguard?
Rinse it after use and let it dry in a vented case rather than loose in your kit bag. Replace it if it is damaged, worn or no longer fits snugly.

What is the contact training suit for?
Tackling and contact drills. The EVA-padded suit lets players work at full intensity and reverses from red to blue to split players into sides.
