Weight Lifting Gloves

Weight Lifting Gloves | Gym Gloves & Palm Grips

Lifting Gloves, Wrist-Wrap Gloves and Leather Palm Grips from Morgan Sports, Sting and Vantage Strength

Weight lifting gloves put a layer of leather, rubber or fabric between your palms and the bar, which helps against calluses, blisters and torn skin on high-volume sessions. They suit barbell and dumbbell work, cable machines, kettlebells, pull-ups and functional fitness classes.

We stock gloves from Morgan Sports, Sting and Vantage Strength, from light everyday gym gloves to leather gloves with a built-in wrist strap, plus a women's cut and leather palm grips for pull-ups and gymnastic work.

How to Choose Weight Lifting Gloves

• Palm: leather and suede are durable and hold up to knurled bars; rubberised or textured palms add grip on smooth handles and dumbbells. Thicker padding is more comfortable but puts more material between you and the bar.
• Wrist support: gloves with a wide neoprene or elastic wrist strap, like the Morgan Elite and Shark, add support on pressing movements. A short strap simply keeps the glove in place.
• Upper: mesh, knitted and diamond-weave uppers let air through; full neoprene repels sweat. Pull-off fins or finger loops make sweaty gloves easier to remove.
• Fit: a lifting glove should be snug with no loose material in the palm, as bunched fabric makes the bar feel thicker. Check the size chart on each product page.
• Gloves or palm grips: palm grips cover just the palm and attach at the wrist, so you keep more feel for the bar on pull-ups and toes-to-bar.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do gloves reduce grip strength?
Gloves make the bar feel slightly thicker, so some lifters prefer bare hands with chalk for heavy pulls. Gloves are useful for high-volume sessions, rough bars and machines, and for anyone who wants to protect their hands.

What size should I order?
Measure around your palm below the knuckles and compare it with the size chart on the product page. Lifting gloves should feel snug, as they loosen slightly with wear.

Can I use lifting gloves for boxing?
No. Lifting gloves have no padding over the knuckles for punching. The Morgan Speed & Weight Training Gloves are the exception, built for speed ball and focus ball work; for bag work, use boxing gloves or bag mitts.

What are palm grips for?
Palm grips protect against rips and blisters on pull-ups, toes-to-bar and other bar work while leaving your fingers free, so you keep a direct feel for the bar.
