Commercial Grade Rubber Gym Flooring – Solid Red 15mm [1m × 1m]

Solid Red | 15mm Thick | Approx. 14kg Per Tile | 1m² Per Tile | Indoors or Out

The 1m x 1m x 15mm Solid Red Terracotta Rubber Gym Flooring Tile is the large-format tile in our solid colour range - one full square metre per tile, at the 15mm thickness most commercial gym floors are built on. That makes it the right choice for covering open areas quickly: functional training zones, free-weight areas, studios, garages and large home gyms, where fewer joins and faster laying matter more than carrying a lighter tile.

It's a warm, solid terracotta red through the full tile, so it reads as one clean colour and works for colour-coded zones and kids' areas as well as a straight gym floor.

Is a 1m x 1m Tile the Right Size for You?

Choose the 1m x 1m tile when: you're covering a big open area. Past roughly 15 square metres, 1m tiles lay four times faster than 500mm tiles, have a quarter of the joins, and work out cheaper per square metre.

Choose the 500mm x 500mm x 20mm tile when: the space is small or awkward, you're laying it yourself, you need to cut around a lot of obstacles, it's going on a balcony or patio, or you want a coloured zone rather than a whole floor.

Key Features

  • 15mm thick - the standard thickness for commercial gym floors and machine areas
  • 1m x 1m, approx. 14kg - one square metre per tile for fast coverage and simple layout planning
  • Solid red (terracotta) through the full tile for uniform colour and clear zone marking
  • Dense compressed rubber (1000 kg/m³) with polyurethane binder - holds its shape under weights and equipment
  • Independently tested - EN 13501-1 fire classification, EN 14041 and EN 14904 compliance, REACH SVHC screened
  • Non-slip surface - slip resistance assessed under EN 14041
  • Indoor and outdoor use - waterproof and weather-resistant, best in covered or semi-exposed areas
  • Bevelled edge - clean finish, no trip lip
  • Noise and vibration dampening for free-weight and functional zones
  • Low odour, non-toxic, easy to clean

How Many Tiles Do I Need?

Each tile covers 1 square metre, so take your floor area in square metres and add 5-10% for cuts.

  • Spare room or PT space (approx. 3m x 3m = 9m²) - 10 tiles
  • Single garage (approx. 3m x 6m = 18m²) - 19-20 tiles
  • Small studio or functional zone (approx. 6m x 8m = 48m²) - 51-53 tiles

Independently Tested to European Standards

Our rubber flooring is independently tested to European standards. Reports are available on request for fit-out, tender and compliance documentation.

Test / Document Standard / Issuer Result
Reaction to Fire EN 13501-1:2018 - SGS Efl - limited flame spread, low ignitability
Floor Covering Essentials EN 14041:2018 - OCT Technology Testing Compliant
Indoor Multi-Sports Surfaces EN 14904:2006 - OCT Technology Testing Compliant
REACH SVHC Screening EC 1907/2006, 235 substances - SGS Pass - none detected
CE Attestation of Conformity EUTEST, ref TD64762501 Issued, valid to December 2030

The fire classification was tested on a 15mm rubber tile from this range. The EN 14041 and EN 14904 assessment covers slip resistance, water-tightness, shock absorption, wear resistance, rolling load resistance, electrical behaviour and content of dangerous substances - the characteristics a certifier, architect or facility manager will ask about on a commercial floor.

A fire classification report is not type approval or product certification. If your project needs critical radiant flux data for NCC floor-lining compliance, contact us.

Why REACH matters: if you're fitting out a school, childcare centre, council facility or healthcare space, the SGS screening tested this rubber against 235 Substances of Very High Concern on the European Chemicals Agency candidate list and detected none above the reporting limit. A lot of cheap imported rubber flooring has never been screened at all.

Installation Tips

  1. Prepare the area: the surface should be clean, dry, level and free of dust - concrete, timber, tiles and vinyl are all fine
  2. Lay from a corner: butt each tile tightly against the last in a grid or brick-bond pattern - the bevelled edges close up into a neat join
  3. Cut to size: a sharp utility knife and straight edge will do it - score in a few passes through the 15mm thickness around posts, drains and doorways
  4. Secure if required: indoors, loose lay is fine in most spaces; outdoors or in high-traffic areas, use double-sided flooring tape on the seams and perimeter, or adhesive for a permanent fix
  5. Outdoors: leave a small drainage gap at the perimeter and lay on a surface that sheds water - don't seal the tiles into a puddle

FAQs

Why would I choose this over the 500mm tile?
Coverage and speed. Each 1m x 1m tile covers a full square metre, so a large floor has a quarter of the joins and lays much faster, and it works out cheaper per square metre. The 500mm tile is 20mm thick and about 5kg, which suits small, awkward or cut-heavy spaces and solo laying.

Do the tiles interlock?
No - they're straight-edged with a bevel, laid edge to edge. The weight and the tight join hold them in place; tape or adhesive locks them down if needed.

Can I use them outdoors?
Yes. The rubber is waterproof and weather-resistant and suits patios, covered decks and outdoor training areas. Colour will hold up best in covered or semi-exposed spots rather than full sun all day.

Is this a certified playground soft-fall surface?
No. It's a gym and activity floor - great for play areas, kids' training spaces and school activity rooms, but it's not rated for critical fall height under the playground standard. If you need a compliant soft-fall surface for play equipment, contact us and we'll point you to the right product.

Is 15mm thick enough for weights?
Yes for dumbbells, kettlebells, benches, racks and general training. For dropping loaded Olympic bars from height, use 30mm EPDM tiles in the platform area.

Can you provide compliance documentation for a tender or fit-out?
Yes. We can supply the SGS fire classification report (EN 13501-1, Efl), the EN 14041 and EN 14904 technical construction file, the SGS REACH SVHC screening report and the CE Attestation of Conformity. Contact us and we'll send them through.

Can I install over tiles or concrete?
Yes - any flat, clean, dry surface. Timber and vinyl are fine too.

Does it smell?
It's a low-odour, non-toxic rubber. Give a new floor some airflow for the first day or two.

What other colours are there?
In the same 1m x 1m x 15mm commercial grade solid colour format we also have Dark Grey and Light Grey, and the commercial fleck range in Black, Blue Fleck, Red Fleck, White Fleck and Grey Fleck. They're all the same size and thickness, so you can mix them for zones or checkerboards.
