The Sting Python Junior MMA Shin & Foot Protector is the kids' version of Sting's Python guard - the same handcrafted T3 leather outer and high-density foam padding, cut and proportioned for junior legs so it covers the shin and instep properly instead of a cut-down adult guard that sits in the wrong place. Built for young athletes starting MMA, kickboxing and Muay Thai, and for the parents who want them to keep coming back.
Adjustable hook-and-loop calf straps and elastic heel and instep straps hold the guard in place through drills and light sparring, the low-profile plate lets kids kick and move naturally, and the T3 outer wipes clean and shrugs off the scuffs of a busy junior class.
Juniors roughly 6 to 14 years old training MMA, kickboxing or Muay Thai - beginners learning to check and throw kicks safely through to kids in junior sparring. Two sizes cover the age range; see the size chart below. When they outgrow it, the adult Sting Python starts at Small with a 12-inch shin plate.

Sting sizes the Junior by the length of the shin plate and the instep pad. Measure your child's shin from just below the kneecap to the top of the ankle bone with the leg straight, then choose the size whose shin length is closest to that without being longer - the plate should end just above the ankle, not ride into the knee. Kids grow: if they're near the top of a size, go up and snug the straps. Our Sydney showrooms have sizes on the floor to try.

For comparison, the adult Python Small has a 12-inch (30.4cm) shin plate - the next step up when they outgrow the Junior.
Why not just buy an adult Small?
Proportion. An adult Small is cut for an adult shin-to-foot ratio and strap spacing; on a child it sits high, the instep floats and the straps land in the wrong places. The Junior is patterned for kids' legs, so it covers what it should and stays put.
Can they spar in them?
Yes - for supervised junior sparring and pad work they give proper shin and instep protection. Check your club's rules on what protective gear is required for junior contact.
Do they cover the foot?
Yes - the instep section covers the top of the foot, held by an elastic heel strap and toe loop, with the sole open so they keep their footing.
How do I care for them?
Open the straps and air dry after every session - not left in the training bag. Wipe the T3 outer with a damp cloth and use a spray deodoriser for the lining. Keep them out of direct sun and hot cars.
