Slate Look is the brightest tile in our PVC laminated range. Where our Grey Stone Look tile has a mottled, concrete-like texture, Slate Look carries a finer, lighter stone pattern that reflects more light and makes a room feel larger.

That makes it the natural choice for spaces that fight for daylight — basement PT studios, converted warehouse units, ground-floor tenancies with a single street-facing window. It is also the finish most likely to work in a space that is not exclusively a gym: reformer studios, physio rooms, allied health fit-outs and multi-purpose halls where the floor needs to feel clinical and clean rather than industrial.

Underneath the laminated PVC wear surface sits a dense rubber base that handles plate drops, machine loading and heavy foot traffic exactly like commercial gym rubber, because that is what it is.

Flat bottom, tape-down installation. Tiles are butt-jointed with double-sided tape to form a seamless, gapless floor. They are not interlocking and do not use clips.

A Note On Light Floors

A pale floor shows scuffs and chalk dust sooner than a dark one. It cleans up completely with a damp mop, but if your space is a heavy chalk environment — powerlifting, strongman, competition prep — our Mahogany or Grey Stone Look finishes will look cleaner between mops.

Installation

1. Prepare the area — the subfloor must be clean, dry and level. Concrete, timber and vinyl are all suitable.
2. Plan your layout — at 1m² per tile, measure your area in square metres and allow 5–10% for cuts.
3. Tape and lay — apply double-sided tape to the subfloor and butt each tile tightly against the next.
4. Cut to fit — trim edges and around obstacles with a sharp utility knife and straight edge.

FAQs

How much does one tile cover?
Each tile is 1m x 1m and covers exactly 1m². A 20m² room needs 20 tiles plus an allowance for cuts.

How does Slate Look differ from Grey Stone Look?
Slate Look is noticeably lighter with a finer stone pattern. Grey Stone Look is a darker, mottled concrete texture. If you are choosing between them, order a sample — photographs of pale stone finishes are hard to judge on screen.

Will it show chalk and scuff marks?
More than a dark floor, yes. It mops off completely, but heavy chalk users should consider a darker finish.

Do I need clips for these tiles?
No. The 15mm tile is flat bottom and laid with double-sided tape. Clips are used with the 20mm buckle-bottom tiles.

Can I get edge ramps?
Not in 15mm. Ramps and corner sections start at 20mm.

Can I mix this with other finishes?
Yes. Slate Look pairs well with Natural Oak to separate a studio floor from a strength zone.
