Pair or single?
The pair if you press, row and carry two-handed — it also works out cheaper than buying two singles. Start with a single if your training is one-arm work or budget-staged.
40kg or 24kg set?
40kg if you're already pressing 25kg+ dumbbells or plan to — you'll grow out of 24s. The 24kg pair is lighter, cheaper and plenty for general strength training.
Can I drop them like fixed dumbbells?
No — the adjustment mechanism is the one thing that separates these from dead weight, and drops are what kill it (and the warranty). Lower under control, always back into the caddie.
