The 45-degree hinge is the posterior-chain builder - glutes, hamstrings and spinal erectors loaded together through a long range - and bodyweight runs out fast. The Vortex Dual 45 Hip Extension puts plates on it: a plate-loaded hinge at the 45-degree angle that balances the load across the whole chain, with dual pads for a stable, even extension on every rep.

Adjustable pad positioning suits different body sizes and hinge ranges, the non-slip foot plate and ankle support lock the lower body in, and precision pivot bearings keep the movement fluid on a 175.5kg frame of 3mm commercial steel.

How is this different from a bodyweight 45-degree back extension?
Same hinge, but the resistance comes from plates on the lever instead of a weight hugged to the chest - so the load can keep going up, and it stays balanced across the glutes, hamstrings and lower back through the whole range.

What does the pad adjustment do?
It sets where the hinge happens relative to your hips, so taller and shorter users both get a full, safe range of motion.

What plates does it take?
Standard Olympic plates - bumpers, rubber-coated or iron. Plates are sold separately.
