The Sting 10 Inch Pro Leather Speedbag Kit pairs Sting's signature Pro Leather speedball with the professional speedball swivel it needs to rebound true. The ball is hand cut and stitched from select A-grade leather that's treated to hold its elasticity, with a slimline profile and a heavy-duty strop so it tracks in a straight line at speed instead of wobbling off rhythm. The swivel is a proper ball-bearing unit with 10mm pre-drilled mounting holes for bolting to a speedball platform.

At 10 inches the ball is the standard size for boxing gyms - quick enough to build genuine hand speed, large enough for beginners to find the rhythm. It suits boxers, kickboxers and MMA athletes working on timing, reflexes and shoulder endurance, and anyone who wants a fast, low-impact cardio station at home.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need a platform?
Yes. A speedball works by rebounding off a hard, flat surface above it - the swivel mounts to the underside of a platform and the ball hangs from the swivel. This kit gives you the ball and swivel; the platform is bought separately. The Onyx Commercial Adjustable Platform is the one we recommend - its 100mm hardwood board doesn't flex, so the rebound stays on line as the pace climbs.

What height should the platform sit at?
The widest part of the ball should sit roughly level with your mouth to nose when you stand square to it. An adjustable-height platform makes this easy for multi-user gyms; on a fixed board, position it for your main user.

How firm should the ball be?
Firm - a soft speedball rebounds slowly and wanders. Inflate with a standard ball pump and needle until it's tight, then check it before each session; leather balls lose a little air over time.

Do I hit it with gloves or bare hands?
Bare hands or light bag mitts are traditional. Hand wraps or bag mitts protect the knuckles over long sessions - see the accessories below.

Is 10 inch the right size?
10 inch is the all-rounder: fast enough for serious speed work and forgiving enough for beginners. Smaller balls (7-8 inch) are faster and harder to control; larger (12-13 inch) are slower and easier, better for younger or newer users.
