The Morgan Tri-Max Free Standing Punch Bag With Numbers XL is a full-size, commercial-grade free standing bag for boxing and martial arts gyms, fitness centres and home gyms that can't hang a bag. Unlike spring-mounted free standing bags, it has no rebound spring, so it stays planted for heavy punches, kicks, knees and free sparring-style striking. At approx. 1.8m tall with a 42cm-wide striking column, two people can work it at once.

Numbers printed on the cover give you targets for called combinations and accuracy drills. The 140cm top is solid high-density PE foam in a canvas-backed vinyl cover, built around a solid PVC inner tube that absorbs impact. The 60cm-wide base holds up to approx. 90kg of water or sand, so it stays in place on the gym floor.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does it go together?
It comes in three parts. Push the small black inner tube up through the bottom of the base, set the base where you will train and fill it, then slide the foam top on so its grey inner cylinder sits over the black tube. Leave the grey cylinder inside the foam top. For heavy use, Morgan recommends not bolting the grey pipe to the black tube, so impact spreads and the bag lasts longer.

Water or sand?
Either works. Sand gives the most stability. Fill the base where the bag will live: once it is full, don't tilt, roll or drag it, as that can crack the base. Moving a filled Tri-Max is a two- to three-person job. A little rocking at the base is normal and helps absorb impact.

What should I wear to use it?
Always wear boxing gloves or bag mitts. Bare knuckles and jewellery wear the cover quickly, and the bag isn't designed for weapon training. With use, the inner tube and PVC pipe can be replaced: see the Tri-Max inner tube and PVC pipe spare parts.
