Green Rubber Gym Flooring Tile - Commercial Grade | 500mm x 500mm x 20mm

Green | 20mm Thick | 5kg Per Tile | 4 Tiles Per Square Metre | Indoors or Out

The 500mm x 500mm x 20mm Green Rubber Gym Flooring Tile is the small-format tile in our rubber range - 20mm thick and around 5kg per tile, so one person can carry, cut and lay it alone. That makes it the right choice for the jobs a big tile is awkward for: tight spaces, patios and covered decks, cut-heavy layouts around posts and equipment, and colour-marked training zones.

Each tile is made from ultra-dense 100% SBR recycled tyre rubber (1000 kg/m³) with a slip-resistant surface and bevelled edges, so it stands up to heavy loads and high traffic in commercial gyms, functional training boxes and serious home gyms. The green finish adds a bold colour to the floor - use it across a whole space or to mark out a functional zone.

Which Colour Is Right for You?

This 500mm x 500mm x 20mm tile comes in four colours, all the same size and thickness, so you can choose on looks alone - or mix them.

  • Green (this tile) - a bold colour for zoning, feature areas and outdoor training spaces.
  • Charcoal Grey - hides marks and dirt, the lower-maintenance choice for a high-traffic floor.
  • Light Grey - brightens a room for a modern studio look, but shows dust and rubber scuffs more readily.
  • Red - solid red through the full tile, for colour-coded zones and kids' areas.

Plenty of gyms mix colours - a green functional zone inside a charcoal grey floor, for example, or a checkerboard for an activity area.

Is a 500mm Tile the Right Size for You?

Choose the 500mm tile when: the space is small or awkward, you're laying it yourself, you need to cut around a lot of obstacles, it's going on a patio or covered deck, or you want a coloured zone rather than a whole floor.

Choose a full-size 1 m² tile when: you're covering a big open area. One 1 m² tile covers the same floor as four of these, so there are fewer joins and the floor goes down faster - see our commercial gym flooring range.

How Many Tiles Do I Need?

Each tile covers 0.25 square metres, so multiply your floor area in square metres by four, then add a few spare tiles for cuts.

  • Patio or small corner (approx. 6 square metres) - 24 tiles plus spares
  • Spare room or PT space (approx. 12 square metres) - 48 tiles plus spares
  • Single garage (approx. 18 square metres) - 72 tiles plus spares, at which point the full-size 1 m² tiles are worth a look

Installation Tips

  1. Prepare the area: the surface should be clean, dry, level and free of dust - concrete, timber, tiles and vinyl are all fine
  2. Lay from a corner: place each tile tightly against the last in a grid or brick-bond pattern for a neat, gap-free floor
  3. Cut to size: trim cleanly with a sharp utility knife and straight edge - at 500mm the tiles are easy to cut around posts, drains and doorways
  4. Secure if required: no adhesive is needed in most indoor spaces; outdoors or in high-traffic areas, use double-sided flooring tape on the seams and perimeter, or adhesive for a permanent fix
  5. Outdoors: leave a small drainage gap at the perimeter and lay on a surface that sheds water - don't seal the tiles into a puddle

Frequently Asked Questions

Why would I choose this over a 1 m² tile?
Size and weight. At 500mm x 500mm and around 5kg, it's easy to carry, cut and lay on your own, and it fits small or awkward spaces where a big tile would need a lot of cutting. For a large open floor, the full-size tiles in our commercial gym flooring range cover four times the area per tile.

Can I use these tiles outdoors?
Yes. They're weather-resistant, waterproof and UV-stable in covered or semi-exposed spaces, so they suit patios, covered decks and alfresco training zones.

Is the surface slip-resistant?
Yes. The surface is AS4586:2013 slip-resistance certified and keeps excellent traction even when wet or sweaty.

Is 20mm thick enough for weights?
Yes for dumbbells, kettlebells, benches, racks and general free-weight training - the dense rubber is built for heavy loads. If you'll be dropping loaded Olympic bars from height, we recommend our thicker EPDM rubber tiles for the platform area.

Can I install them over tiles or concrete?
Yes - any flat, clean, dry surface works. Timber and vinyl are fine too.

What other colours are there?
The same 500mm x 500mm x 20mm format comes in Charcoal Grey, Light Grey and Red. Mix them for zones, walkways or checkerboards.
