The Raptor Seated Torso Rotation trains the twist - the one core movement most gym floors skip. Seated with the hips locked in and the torso braced against padded supports, you rotate through a guided arc against the machine's built-in resistance, so the obliques and deep spinal stabilisers do the work while the lower back stays protected.

Because the hips are fixed, the rotation happens where it should - through the mid-back and core - rather than being faked from the hips or shoulders. That makes it safer than loaded twisting with a bar or plate, and useful for everything from golf and tennis rotation power to rehab-grade core control.

It needs no plates, no pin and no weight stack, so it's always ready to go, and at 39kg with a 1.72 x 0.49m footprint it slots into a core zone, stretching area or physio room without eating floor space.

Key Features

  • Seated, hip-locked rotation: isolates the obliques and stops the movement leaking into the hips.
  • Built-in resistance: no plates, pins or stack - nothing to load, nothing to lose.
  • Guided rotational path: controlled range of motion that's kinder to the spine than free-weight twists.
  • Padded torso and leg supports: keeps posture upright and the spine aligned through the twist.
  • Adjustable foot placement: fits users of different heights and leg lengths.
  • Compact 39kg unit: the smallest footprint in the Raptor range - easy to place and move.
  • Commercial powder-coated steel: 16 frame colours and 12 upholstery colours available on made-to-order builds.

FAQs

What muscles does a torso rotation machine work?
Primarily the obliques, with the transverse abdominis and the small rotator muscles of the spine assisting. It's the missing piece next to crunches (flexion) and back extensions (extension).

Does it use weight plates?
No - resistance is built into the machine, so there's nothing to load and nothing to adjust between users. That's also why it sits in the Raptor range at a fraction of the weight of the plate-loaded machines.

Seated or standing torso rotation - which should I choose?
Seated locks the hips in place, so the rotation is isolated to the core - better for strict oblique work and rehab. Standing lets the hips and legs join in, closer to a sporting movement. Many floors run both; see the Raptor Standing Torso Rotation.

Is twisting safe for the lower back?
Uncontrolled, loaded twisting is what hurts backs. Here the hips are fixed, the arc is guided and the resistance is moderate, which is exactly why this style of machine turns up in physio and rehab settings.

Can beginners use it?
Yes - it's low impact, simple to set up and the movement is easy to learn.

Can I customise the frame and upholstery?
Yes - made-to-order builds are available in 16 frame colours and 12 upholstery colours on an 8-12 week lead time. See the full colour chart below.

Do you offer delivery and installation?
Yes - Australia-wide delivery, with professional installation through our own technician team in Sydney. Contact us to discuss freight access and site requirements.
