PP Barong Training Sword

Unbreakable Polypropylene | 65.5cm | Balanced 348g

The PP Barong brings the iconic leaf-shaped blade of the southern Philippines to safe training — the traditional sword of the Tausug and Moro peoples, and a staple of Filipino martial arts weapons work. The broad, weighted profile gives it a cutting feel unlike any straight blade in the range.

Moulded from durable polypropylene, it takes regular dojo sessions and supervised training without cracking or splintering. At 65.5cm and a balanced 348g, the weight sits forward the way a barong should, developing edge alignment and controlled power through movement, transitions and weapon-control work.

Key Features

  • Traditional barong profile — the iconic leaf-shaped Filipino blade

  • Balanced 348g weight — forward-weighted for realistic cutting mechanics
  • Compact 65.5cm length — close-range forms and controlled transitions
  • All-weather — indoor and outdoor training

FAQs

What is a barong?
The barong is the traditional leaf-shaped sword of the southern Philippines — broad in the middle, tapering at both ends, famous for its cutting power. This trainer reproduces the profile in safe polypropylene for forms and technique practice.

Barong or mandau — which should I choose?
Both are Southeast Asian single-hand blades. The barong (65.5cm/348g) is broader and forward-weighted for cutting mechanics; the mandau (68.5cm/290g) is slimmer and faster in the hand. FMA practitioners typically reach for the barong; both make striking demonstration pieces.

Is it suitable for partner work?
It's built for forms and controlled drills under qualified instruction. It's a rigid trainer that carries real impact, so it's not intended for contact sparring — use control and appropriate protective equipment.

The Polypropylene Barong Training Sword is a durable practice weapon designed for martial arts forms, controlled drills, and traditional weapons training.

I give this Barong sword 4/5 star.
Yup it's the handle.
The handle is very small. Wish the handle was bigger.
But other than that, it's a soild build all around.
