FAQs

Is the blade actually metal?
No — the blade is high-impact ABS plastic finished with a metallic silver-look plating. It photographs and presents like steel, but it's a lightweight plastic trainer with no sharp edge, which is exactly what makes it safe for practice, stage and display.

How is this different from your PP katana bokken?
This is the realism piece — the plated finish, hamon detailing and engraved fittings read as live steel on stage or display. Our polypropylene bokken are the workhorses for heavy daily drilling. Same 106cm length and 530g weight, so technique transfers directly between them.

Does the plating wear off?
The plated finish is durable under normal kata, demonstration and display use. Like any plated surface it will mark under repeated hard impacts — if your training involves heavy blade contact, choose the PP bokken and keep this one looking sharp.

How does the assembly work?
Three pieces — blade, guard and pommel — twist-lock together by hand in seconds, no tools. It packs down short for a gear bag and locks up rigid for use.

Is it suitable for partner work?
It's built for kata, choreography and controlled drills under qualified instruction — not for contact sparring or blade-on-blade impact work. Use control and appropriate protective equipment.
